Having caught up with our group, 1 Dutchman, 3 Korean guys, 5 English girls, 1 English guy, and our fearless leader the American, it was soon discovered that of all 13 people we were the oldest! But being young at heart we fit right in... more like squished right into the van.
The team rocking it out in our stretch hummer in Vegas!
Heading up towards Angel's Landing Lookout:
Serena makes her way precariously up the 'Switch backs at 6:30 am carefully avoiding the edge!
This proves it was a hard walk!
Whilst waiting for Heidi at Scout's Lookout, Serena was joined by her mates, Chip and Dale Chipmunk.
Serena at Scout's Lookout, looking up the trail to Angel's Landing
The view from ALMOST the top looking back down into the Canyon
Heidi holding on VERY tightly to that chain, making her way up to the very top
Heidi holding on VERY tightly to that chain, making her way up to the very top
3 hours later she makes it to the top but no Angels in sight!
Back to the camp and showered we headed of towards Easton's Ranch for horseriding. Being a little more experienced than most Heidi was given the feisty horse Jerry and Serena had the well behaved Siro. Our trail ride took us through some amazing scenery of the American outback and boy did we feel like cowgirls! Again, the bushies braved the great outdoors in our sleeping bags and even though we were worned about the scorpions and tarantulas, we knew that we were tough Aussies and would survive, until half way through the night I felt the hairy legs crawling over my leg... and it wasn't Serena! Consequently I flicked off the pesky critter... straight onto Serena!!! However, we both woke up alive in the morning! Pheww!
Today, shortly after packing up camp, we headed to Lake Powell for a brief swim and then headed to Grand Canyon where we now sit in anticipation for dinner being cooked by the 'cooking group'. We entered the Grand Canyon National Park in POURING rain and deep fog but luckily by the time we got to the camp site at the South rim, it had stopped and we quickly threw up the tents. Definitely no sleeping outside tonight for us... apart from that it is FREEZING! How can the temperature drop from 43 degrees to 15 degrees in such a small area?!!
So its dinner time and then we're off to see the Sunset over the great big hole in the ground known as the Grand Canyon... until then.....
